Back in 2015, adult coloring books were all the rage. One of Wes and Rachel’s friends hosted monthly coloring book parties as a way for people to meet and relax. Rachel had been there from the beginning and during the Fall of 2015, Wes started showing up. The two of them started chatting and found that they had very similar interests- music, hobbies, and what they liked to watch; they started talking regularly soon after. In February 2016, Wes mentioned that he had a giant anime collection and showed it to Rachel; she was very impressed by how much he had! Wes invited her to choose a show and hang out at his apartment to watch it together. From then on, Rachel could be typically found on Sunday evenings at Wes’s, watching TV and hanging out.
In the Summer of 2016, Wes mentioned that the band VNV Nation was going to be performing in New York City at the end of October 2016. They both loved VNV Nation and Rachel had never seen them in person, so once she heard about the concert they bought tickets and figured out the logistics. Over the summer they grew closer and by the end of September, they were dating. That meant that their first big date was a loud, energetic concert in New York City done by one of their favorite bands that went for hours and hours. They spent the night dancing away, knowing that this was a great way to start their relationship!
Rachel and Wes have been dancing together in Pittsburgh ever since that night. They love going to concerts together, whether it be local performers or big-name bands that come through town. Wes has introduced Rachel to tons of music and artists, so not only has her knowledge expanded, but they are building a bigger and bigger library of music that they both love. They love checking out new places and taking photos as they wander about. From Spring to Fall they sit out on the porch and spend hours out there relaxing and enjoying their cat, Squid, who was added to the family in March 2020.
In April 2021, Wes and Rachel got engaged. They are deeply in love and cannot imagine life without each other. There is so much ahead of them and they can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next!
